My Comic-Con 2012 Schedule

You have no idea how much of a headache I have with planning my Comic-Con schedule this year. I will be in San Diego from July 10 and heading back on July 16. I have so many of my celebrities doing stuff this year that it is literally a game of who is important and who I need to see. My currently dilemmas are with Thursday (evening), Friday and Saturday! And I am sure I will have even more of a headache once NerdHQ conversation schedule comes up.

Here is the list of my celebs right now attending for sure (List is subject to change.):

Alison Brie, Anna Kendrick, Ben Schwartz, Joe Manganiello, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lea Michele, Lizzy Caplan, Lyndsy Fonseca..

Stuff related to some of my celebs who aren’t attending are Candice Accola (The Vampire Diaries), Don Cheadle (Iron Man 3), Hit and Run screening (Kristen Bell) and After screening (Steven Strait)

It was just announced today that Lizzy Caplan‘s short film, Item 47 will have a special screening at Comic-Con on the evening of Thursday (It will be in the blu ray of The Avengers but we get to see it earlier)

If you’re going to be at Comic-Con and want to see the short, the “Avengers Second Screen” app will be available for free on iTunes this Friday, and it will provide a series of clues that will lead fans to a screening of Item 47 on the evening of Thursday, July 12th.

“Magic Mike” Review

On Friday, I managed to see Magic Mike in theatres (by myself)! Let’s just say I tried to get people to watch with me but in the end, I figured it would just be easier to go by myself! I really enjoyed the movie! And yes there is a storyline but I don’t think anyone really cares! Hot men, stripping, nudity..and hot dance moves FTW!

I knew what to expect from a “male stripper movie”. In December, I saw the Chippendales show with my friends. It was a “bachelorette thing”. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have gone but I do remember after the show, my friends and I had a conversation about what would we do if someone we know wanted to be a Chippendale/male stripper. So pretty much Magic Mike does answer this question. We get to look at what it is like to be a male stripper, why someone would be interested in being one and how it does affect the ones you love. You get the heart behind Magic Mike!

Matthew McConaughey is amazing in the movie! I always loved him but the movie made me love him more! Plus Channing Tatum just keeps getting better. Not only does he show off that he can act but his dance moves are to die for! He has definitely grown and improved since his Step Up days! (Haters go away!) Plus always nice to get them CMU Hotties (Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello) in a movie together. Plus Alex Pettyfer and Adam Rodriguez!! Just an amazing combination of men! The movie teases you at the beginning and even at the end. Let’s just say they know how to make us want more! I just really loved what Steven Soderbergh did with the movie! My only complaint was I wanted more dancing/stripping. (I really wouldn’t have mind the 3 hour version with all the dancing/stripping that got cut! Can’t wait for the dvd/blu ray!) I wanted to erase my experience in Las Vegas! Let’s face it! These men in the movie are way hotter and the dancing is so much better!

So if the prequel/sequel for the movie does happen, I am all for it! I did want to know more about the characters. And it definitely made sense for a prequel rather than a sequel. Plus Magic Mike The Musical! Definitely interested to see how this will turn out. I leave you with one of my favorite scenes of the movie. Just Matthew McConaughey being awesome and such a tease!

EDIT: Chippendales recently reviewed the movie! This review interested me a lot since like I said before I saw their show in Las Vegas and I have to agree with their comparisons:

Travellers’ Tips for New York

Below is my tips from my trip to New York last year which I originally did for my Traveller’s Tips blog related site for my online course a couple months ago. (This is an alternate version of my original)

I Love New York

In June 2011, I visited New York for the first time! Not only was it my first time but it was my first time travelling by myself. It was the best experience ever! I was only there for 3 days. I would have stayed longer and ever since I left New York, I have been wanting to go back.

I have learned some stuff that I would do different the next time I go to New York. My goal on my trip was to experience as much as New York as I could! New York is known for being the city that never sleeps. While I was in New York, I did happen to get lack of sleep and when I got back to Vancouver, I was sick. When it rains in New York, it rains hard!! They take out umbrellas right away when it rains on the streets to sell to the tourists.

Best important tip, if you don’t have an umbrella, buy one or best to find shelter until the rain stops!

Everyone’s experience of New York is different. Everyone wants to do different stuff in New York too. I want to share my insights of what I did which can be very efficient for any other especially those going to New York for the first time

Hotels, Transportation & Food

It won’t be cheap! I stayed at Wellington Hotel. It was close and a few blocks away from Times Square. The difficult task is to find a cheap hotel.

I saved money by avoid taking transportation. It is easier to see stuff just by walking unless it is needed, take the Subway! Avoid the taxi as much as possible.

I took the SuperShuttle from the airport to the hotel and vice versa! The cost is cheaper.

I tried to save money on food by going to Starbucks! Let’s just say I ate unhealthy. Definitely try to take advantage of the street food!

Most people go to New York to see Broadway and Off Broadway shows. I saw two while I was in New York, The Normal Heart & How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.

Here are important resources and places to check out:

  • Buy tickets online! My favorite site is
  • TKTS Discount Booths – Located on middle of Time Square. Get show tickets 50% on the day. If you are not picky what show you want to see, this method is best! Otherwise, book online! Lots of shows will be sold out.
  • The Broadway Store – Contains everything Broadway!

Sightseeing & Tours

If you know where you want to go, all you need is a map! Everything is around and I wanted to see popular New York buildings, locations and etc. I did a bunch of tours. Here are some that I recommend:

· Top Of The Rock – The deck got the 2nd largest view of New York! It also has lots of different tour packages.

· Empire State Building – The largest view of course!

I didn’t get a chance to see the Statue Of Liberty on Staten Island. Lots of popular locations and buildings are in New York. A lot of TV shows and movies film there too.

· You might be also interested to check out this: New York City TV and Movie Tour and NBC Studios Tour.

· For more ideas of what to do in New York, visit I Love NY.

A lot of people go to New York to do shopping because of all the brand name stores. I’m not much of a shopper and stores in New York are not that much different from stores in Vancouver. The less time you spend time shopping the more time you get to look at stuff around New York! The only shopping I did was mainly souvenir related at NBC Store.

If you need to shop, plan ahead which stores you really want to check out!

Hope you will enjoy your stay in New York and love it as much as I do!

Helpful Tips for Comic-Con 2012

I have decided to put some tips below from what I learned at my experience at Comic-Con last year! I wouldn’t call myself an expert but I learned stuff last year that I thought would be useful for newcomers this year! I know some of my friends will be new to the Comic-Con scene. So I know this will help them as well!

Last year, I only had the privilege of attending only two days (Friday and Sunday) which I think is great for a first timer since I am not really a wait in line type of person and I do like my sleep! So don’t expect to be nicely rested during Comic-Con because you will definitely be spending majority of your time waiting in line and sitting through panels to get to the ones you love! Also, make sure to come up with different back up plans in case things do not work out on the day. Below are some helpful tips from what I learned:

  • If you want to get in to the panels you really love you in Ballroom 20 and Hall H, I say line up at least 3 am. You may think this is way too early but people will be lining up way before then! Unless you really do not care where you sit, then maybe come later but that is at your own risk!

Ballroom 20 – The lineup starts in front of the main entrance for Comic-Con! Not everyone lining up will be going to but if there are must see panels happening (which there always is), majority of the people will be going there. They open doors at 9am. Once you are inside, you go upstairs on the escalators (Don’t worry you will get directed)

  • TIP: Listen to what they say. If they say don’t run, just don’t.. It is also helpful because you will most likely get bitched by people who were lined up earlier than you as to why you are all of a sudden in front of them. (You can run looking for seats in the room though. That’s the most important part especially if you are picky to where you sit!)

** The free huge Comic-Con bags during registration will come in handy for lining up (since you can sit on them while camping)

Hall H – Even though this room holds over 1000 people, huge TV fandoms and movies are always held here. And yes it can be crazy! But line up wise is directly in front of the room! (So no main Comic-Con door entrance for this)

NOTE: If you are attending smaller panels, you won’t need to line up this early but it really depends what it is. I managed to get into some panels without having to line up!

  • Exhibition Hall has huge and lots of free stuff! So you will need a few hours in there. This is where autographs happen to. I didn’t do any autographs last year because there was a raffle system and I couldn’t be bothered last year! (Let’s just say you are not guaranteed to get autographs but you do see lots of famous people either walking around or doing autographs and other stuff)
  • Zachary Levi’s Nerd HQ – Off Site and I totally recommend. For the conversation panels, they only cost $20 dollars which go to Operation Smile (Yes to charity!) Plus you are guaranteed your seats and autographs from your favorite celebrities! So make sure to take advantage of this!

Welcome to Jasmine Goes To..! This is a blog for the three things I love.. Movies, TV and Theatre! What you will find here is reviews, blog posts, tips, upcoming events I am attending and more! Just something fun I thought I should do!

Having done so many fansites and finally trying to get the whole “web thing” certified, I have been coming up with lots of different ideas on these assignments for my online courses and it all some how came to one “huge” idea. That I should do a blog site! I have been asked to do a blog site or do my own reviews and such but I didn’t really feel comfortable in doing that! But now I am all like, what the hell.. I will just do it! I don’t mind being critiqued. I don’t think I am all that “smart” and stuff. I can take criticism as long as the person isn’t a total ass. So here you go! The first post of my blog! Lot’s more stuff to come!

What to look forward this week: Dying over Magic Mike, Battling Comic-Con 2012 and Summer Traveling Tips! (Curious about what I mean.. You will find out soon!) In the meantime, Happy Canada Day to my Fellow Canadians!
